Dr Jonathan Newman is a social anthropologist who conducts research on the cannabis industry in Europe. He also looks at the coffee sector and the arms trade. His research considers the junction between regulation, technology, day-to-day business and moral economy. Newman is interested in how different companies identify and deal with the ethics surrounding their trade and how they balance this against other business goals. His articles have appeared in academic, trade and international media publications. He has presented research at trade shows, conferences, festivals and public meetings. He has acted as a consultant for political and business leaders.
